WATCH: Referees somehow miss vicious, blatant penalty on Ndamukong Suh

The NFL has called hits to the quarterbacks incredibly tight in 2018. As such, it’s almost impossible to believe that they can miss a blatant one, especially committed by Ndamukong Suh. But that’s exactly what happened on Monday.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes scrambled on a play. Well after he slid, he was hit on the head and effectively put into a chokehold by Suh. But no flag was called.

This was not away from the play. Mahomes had the ball. It was also not a particularly chaotic play. This was a flat out botch.

This penalty being missed was even more baffling when we consider how tight the first half of Monday’s game was called. It was rare when more than three consecutive plays went by without a flag being thrown.

It’s amazing that this, of all things, was somehow missed.
