Packers release Jermaine Whitehead days after ejection for slapping

On Sunday night, Green Bay Packers safety Jermaine Whitehead was ejected for slapping a New England Patriots offensive lineman.

By Tuesday, he’d become a former Packers safety.

As part of a series of moves, the team released Whitehead, placed receiver Geronimo Allison on IR, promoted cornerback Will Redmond from the practice squad and signed linebacker Brady Sheldon to the practice squad, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

The 25-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Auburn had appeared in seven games, starting two, for the Packers this year before being released. He tallied 17 tackles, one sack and two passes defensed.
