Lamar Jackson likely to start for the Ravens this week

Having shown what he can offer an otherwise mediocre Baltimore Ravens team, it sure looks like rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson will get the call once again this week against the Oakland Raiders.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh noted on Wednesday that it’s going to be hard for injured starter Joe Flacco (hip) to go in Sunday’s game. That means Jackson is more than likely ready to start his second career NFL game.

Jackson was dynamite in his initial start last week, helping Baltimore defeat the division rival Cincinnati Bengals. He broke the NFL record for rushing attempts from a quarterback with 27, putting up 117 yards in the process.

He’s the first quarterback to go for 100-plus rushing yards in a single game since Colin Kaepernick all the way back in 2015. It led to Jackson receiving some nice messages from those who paved the way for his success.

Baltimore currently sits at 5-5 on the season and is in a five-way tie for the final playoff spot in the AFC. It should be able to dispose of a bad Raiders team without much difficulty. It’s a perfect game for Jackson to start.
