Fresh off signing a new three-year, $93 million contract, Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is already excited for another opportunity to compete with Los Angeles. In fact, the 30-year-old views this as a chance to prove his critics wrong.
Coming off another crushing loss in the World Series, and another personal glaring postseason failure, Kershaw views the three-year deal as a path to proving himself in the postseason.
“This deal gives me another chance to prove a lot of people wrong,” Kershaw said, via The Los Angeles Times.
The criticism of Kershaw’s inability to come through in October didn’t go away this year. He drew two starts in the World Series and had two chances to turn around his legacy, but Kershaw allowed 14 hits and nine runs across two losses in Game 1 and Game 5.
Kershaw now heads into the second half of his career with a 4.32 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 30 career playoff games. Even if he proves himself next year leading up to the World Series, he won’t shake the critics until he actually shines in the World Series and brings a title to Los Angeles.
