Bengals place QB Andy Dalton on injured reserve

With the team’s playoff aspirations hanging in the balance, the Cincinnati Bengals will be without starting quarterback Andy Dalton for the remainder of the season.

The team announced on Monday that it has placed Dalton on injured reserve with a thumb injury he suffered in Sunday’s humiliating loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Dalton left the game in the second half with a right thumb sprain. And while initial tests came back negative, it’s apparent that the Bengals don’t think Dalton will be ready to play in any of the final five games of the season.

In Dalton’s stead on Sunday, Jeff Driskel completed 17-of-29 passes for 155 yards with a touchdown. He’ll be the starter moving forward on the season for a Bengals team that enters Week 13 at 5-6.
