Drew Brees the odds-on favorite to win first career MVP

While Drew Brees has done a lot in his career, he’s never won a league MVP. Through six weeks of the NFL season, the oddsmakers think that will change.

Brees has 4/1 odds to win the league MVP. That makes him the favorite, with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and Los Angeles Rams teammates Jared Goff and Todd Gurley coming in behind him at 6/1.

It’s hard to argue with Brees’ candidacy.

His New Orleans Saints have overcome a shaky start and now sit at 4-1. Brees has had a lot to do with that success.

Through the first five games of the season, he has completed 77.9 percent of his passes for 1,658 yards with 11 touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 122.3 rating. That puts him on pace for 5,306 yards passing and 35 touchdowns.

Even if he mixes in the occasional interception, that would be not only Brees’ best season, but arguably one of the greatest seasons in NFL history.
