Navy helmets for Army game are literally the goat

Malcolm Perry and the Navy Midshipmen

Calling someone or something in sports the “GOAT” has become a popular way of praising the greatest of all time. The goat means more to Navy football, though.

Under Armour announced that the Naval Academy will sport helmets featuring Bill the Goat during the annual Army/Navy Game.

The goat has a rich history in the rivalry, most notably when President Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered “Bill” be returned to Navy after a group of West Point cadets stole him before the 1953 game.

Perhaps it will bring a bit of much-needed good fortune to the Mids, too.

Navy’s 14-game winning streak against Army ended two years ago, and this season is trending toward a third straight Army win. Navy is just 2-4, while Army is 4-2.

But with the Goat on the helmets, it’d be unacceptable for Navy to lose.
