Mike Tomlin, Ben Roethlisberger tepid on report Le’Veon Bell will return

Heading into Week 5 of the NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are working through struggles while superstar Le’Veon Bell remains away. However, on Monday it was reported that Bell is planning on returning to the team during its Week 7 bye, setting up what could be a very interesting second half of the season.

Head coach Mike Tomlin was asked to give his thoughts on this on Tuesday. His response was not full of exuberance and joy.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Ben Roethlisberger was asked about Bell, too. His response was somewhat measured and seemed to indicate he’s not sure if his teammate will actually show.

It’s no secret there is a ton of frustration built up in Pittsburgh over Bell’s absence. His teammates expected him to show up for work once the season began, and when he did not many of them responded with some of the most shocking comments we’ve ever seen on this type of issue.

Yes, the Steelers need Bell in the lineup. Sunday night’s awful showing at home against Baltimore was a stark example of just how one-dimensional the team’s offense has gotten without its star running back.

That being said, it’s not surprising the team’s leaders aren’t getting all excited about the rumor that Bell will return.
