Lane Kiffin, FAU cancelled classes so students could tailgate and attend game

Lane Kiffin

The 2018 season hasn’t been sunshine and roses for Lane Kiffin and the FAU Owls, but that didn’t stop them from pulling off a bit of magic before Friday night’s game.

The Owls entered Week 9 with a record of 3-4 and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs coming into town for the early evening game. On Thursday, Kiffin announced that the school was going to be shutting down early on Friday so that students would have time to change, tailgate and show up en masse to support the team.

“We need you at the stadium early and we need you loud and proud from the stands. I trust you all can take it from here,” Kiffin wrote.

It remains to be seen if those efforts will be rewarded with a win. With most of the fourth quarter remaining, the Owls are down 14-13 to the Bulldogs, who have forced two turnovers and have negated FAU’s passing game in a big way.
