Free agent WR Rishard Matthews hires Drew Rosenhaus, expected to sign soon

The Tennessee Titans released receiver Rishard Matthews just days before Week 4’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. But it looks like he won’t be out of a job for long.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Matthews, who had previously represented himself, has hired Drew Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus noted that his new client will likely be signed soon.

Matthews was used sparingly in Tennessee’s first three games of the season. He caught only three passes for 11 yards. Still, his release was a surprise. In his first two years with the Titans, he was one of the team’s best, most consistent offensive players.

In 2017, Matthews caught 53 passes for 795 yards with four touchdowns. The year before that, he hauled in 65 passes for 945 yards with nine touchdowns, all career highs.

Plenty of teams in the league are lacking production at receiver and can certainly afford to take a chance on Matthews returning to his pre-2018 form.
