Former Miami Hurricanes head football coach suing university

Former Miami Hurricans head football coach Al Golden is not a happy camper after being fired by the program back in 2015.

According to TMZ Sports, Golden is suing the university for a cool $3 million, claiming that he never received “separation pay” in the contract he with signed with the program.

The report notes that Golden’s original contract, signed back in 2011, included a massive amount of potential bonuses. An example of this is what Golden claims to be millions from third-party television and radio appearances.

Currently an assistant with the Detroit Lions, Golden put up a 32-25 record in four-plus seasons with the Hurricanes. He was fired midway through the 2015 campaign after having led the team to a 4-3 record.

Miami lost both of its bowl appearances under Golden and failed to win double-digit games a single time. He’s largely scene as one of the biggest head-coaching busts in program history after being heralded as an up-and-coming mind following a successful stint at Temple.

No word yet on how Golden came up with the $3 million figure. The university itself has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
