Dolphins officially put leading receiver Albert Wilson on IR

Miami Dolphins receiver Albert Wilson left Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions with a hip injury. While Wilson will avoid surgery, Miami placed him on IR.

The Dolphins officially announced the decision on Wednesday. To fill Wilson’s spot on the roster, Leontee Caroo was promoted to the active roster.

In his first year in Miami, Wilson has been the team’s best receiver. His 26 receptions are second on the team to Danny Amendola. But Wilson’s 391 receiving yards lead the team while his four touchdown receptions are tied with Kenny Stills for the team lead.

His best game of the year came in Week 6, when he torched the Chicago Bears with two long touchdown receptions (watch here and here) in Miami’s come-from-behind win.

With Wilson out, expect Stills and Amendola to shoulder even more of Miami’s receiving load.

Wilson will be eligible to return to practice in six weeks, but can’t return to game action for a minimum of eight.
