Bengals-Chiefs flexed to ‘Sunday Night Football’ for Week 7

The NFL is certainly attempting to make sure a national audience is able to watch as much of Kansas City Chiefs stud quarterback Patrick Mahomes as possible as he continues what could be a record-breaking season.

On Tuesday, the league announced that it has “flexed” the undefeated Chiefs’ home game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7 from a regional broadcast to Sunday Night Football. It will replace the originally scheduled SNF game between the Los Angeles Rams and struggling San Francisco 49ers.

Not only will this give a national audience the ability to watch Mahomes again, it enables the 4-1 Bengals to play in a prime time game again this season. Cincinnati had not been scheduled another nationally televised game.

This makes all the sense in the world. The originally scheduled game between Los Angeles and San Francisco has all the hallmarks of a blowout. The Rams find themselves at 5-0 on the season while the 49ers are 1-4 and have lost their starting backfield for the season to ton ACLs.

Through the first give games of the season, Mahomes has accounted for 16 total touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s leading the Chiefs to a surprising 35 points per game. Meanwhile, Andy Dalton and the Bengals are in first place in the AFC North and are averaging 30.6 points per game.
