Texans’ Andre Hal declared cancer free

Cancer doesn’t discriminate. It has, in one way or another, impacted pretty much every one of us. Houston Texans safety Andre Hal found this out first-hand when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in June.

How can a seemingly healthy 25-year-old world class athlete suffer from such a disease? Instead of asking this question, Hal fought it. And he has now been declared cancer free.

This is an absolutely joyous day for Hal, his family and his team. Sure he’ll have to continue getting check ups, but being in remission after just three-plus months of treatment is extraordinary. He joins fellow NFLers Eric Berry and James Conner, among others, to defeat this disease.

For his part, Hal couldn’t be more elated.

A seventh-round pick of the Texans back in 2014, Hal earned himself both a starting job and a new contract over the past three seasons. He signed a three-year, $15 million extension with Houston mere months before being diagnosed.
