Report: Knicks, Joakim Noah expected to part ways by training camp

NBA Free agent, Joakim Noah

After signing center Joakim Noah to one of the NBA’s worst contracts two years ago, the New York Knicks are reportedly ready to end the relationship for good.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Knicks are expected to part ways with Noah before training camp begins.

Noah is still owed nearly $38 million in the final two years of his deal. While the Knicks are reportedly trying to find a trade partner around the league, they could ultimately waive and stretch his contract.

When Noah’s time with the Knicks comes to an end, don’t expect his former coach to bring him in. The Minnesota Timberwolves and head coach Tom Tom Thibodeau are reportedly not interested in bringing Noah to Minnesota.

Given New York couldn’t get bites on trading Noah when they were reportedly willing to include a first-round pick, waiving and stretching him seems to be the probable end for this relationship.
