Pete Carroll won’t rule out extension for Earl Thomas

Earl Thomas

As tenuous as things are right now between the Seattle Seahawks and All-Pro safety Earl Thomas, head coach Pete Carroll isn’t ruling out a scenario that would likely fix the relationship in a hurry.

Thomas, who had two interceptions to spark Seattle’s win Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, missed two practices last week. After the game, he told reporters that he’s protecting himself since the Seahawks aren’t invested in him, hinting he’ll continue to sit out practices without any long-term security.

On Monday, Carroll wouldn’t rule out giving Thomas just that.

Clearly, Thomas is still one of the best safeties in the NFL. He has three interceptions through three games and is on a mission to prove he’s still worth big bucks.

Whether this all culminates with a kumbaya with the front office and a new contract extension remains to be seen.
