There are some out there who can act as an authority on the hot-button topics of the day. They’re more positioned to opine on what is dividing this nation.
Former SEAL Team 6 member Robert O’Neill is one of those people. Said to be responsible for the killing of notorious Islamic terrorist and 9/11 conspirator Osama Bin Laden back in 2011, O’Neill is speaking out about the entire Nike controversy.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock the past several days, Nike made headlines by calling on free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick to be its top pitchman. While a lot of people have commended Nike for making the move, others have decided that they’re going to boycott the company.
O’Neill isn’t one of those people.
“He (Kaepernick) says it’s for awareness for police brutality. I know a lot of vets are insulted. I wouldn’t (kneel) personally but I’m a white guy from Montana,” the American hero said, via TMZ Sports. “Like I always say, every time I was in handcuffs, I deserved it.”
The veteran went on to say “I’m not burning my d**n Air Jordans” before calling those who are doing just that “stupid.”

This runs contrary to fellow former special forces operative and UFC fighter Tim Kennedy, who blasted Nike for its decision to feature Kaepernick.
It’s yet another representation of just how split the United States is on this topic. Now, as the 2018 NFL regular season gets going, we’re going to hear a whole lot more about the national anthem controversy.
