Brett Favre says Patrick Mahomes is as talented as anybody in the league

Following a two-week season-opening performance that saw him put up 10 touchdown passes and zero interceptions, young Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the toast of the NFL.

Why not? He now boasts the most touchdown passes in a season’s first games since the adaption of the Super Bowl era. He’s a second-year quarterback that has started a grand total of three regular season games.

Mahomes’ stock is skyrocketing, and Hall of Famer quarterback Brett Favre is out here buying up some shares.

In an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Favre indicated that “Mahomes’ talent is as good as anybody in the league now.”

In the mold of Favre himself, Mahomes is a gunslinger in the truest sense of the word. He lets is fly with velocity few before him have ever shown. It might lead to mistakes down the road. But for now, Mahomes’ early-season performance has him as a legitimate MVP candidate.

Mahomes has thrown 10 touchdowns on just 55 pass attempts. He’s completing 66.7 percent of said pass attempts and is averaging 15.3 yards per completion.

It goes without saying that Mahomes’ numbers will even out moving forward. This is a small sample size. In no way does that mean he hasn’t been absolutely brilliant. Our best wishes go out to Richard Sherman and the San Francisco 49ers this week.
