Paxton Lynch doesn’t understand why he was demoted

Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch

Following yet another disastrous in-game performance during the Denver Broncos’ preseason opener last week, former first-round pick Paxton Lynch has been demoted to the third string, behind starter Case Keenum and 2017 Mr. Irrelevant, Chad Kelly.

It’s just a continuation of what has been a career of lows for the former Memphis star since joining the Broncos back in 2016.

Following his demotion, it doesn’t seem like Lynch is handling it so well. Here’s what Broncos head coach Vance Joseph had to say about the quarterback’s demeanor.

Being upset is one thing. Not looking in the mirror before asking why you were demoted is a completely different thing.

Already seen as a first-round bust and one of GM John Elway’s biggest draft failures, Lynch opened the preseason against Minnesota this past weekend by completing 6-of-11 passes for 24 yards and an interception. In fact, his first pass of the game resulted in that pick. Denver put up 68 total yards in Lynch’s six drives under center, 23 of those yards coming on a touchdown run from rookie Royce Freeman.

On a different note, Kelly completed 14-of-21 passes for 177 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

There’s your reason, Mr. Lynch.
