Josh Gordon has been away from the Cleveland Browns since before the start of training camp, but on Saturday he announced he was making his return.

In an open letter posted to his Twitter account, Gordon told fans he appreciated the “love, support and most importantly your patience as I took the time needed to ensure my overall mental and physical health.”

Gordon thanked his team, the NFL, NFLPA, the University of Florida and his friend and business manager Michael Johnson Jr. for “playing such pivotal roles in this process,” which he admitted has not been easy.

He concluded by saying, “As I humbly return to being a member of this team with an opportunity to get back to playing this game I love, I realize in order to reach my full potential my primary focus must remain on my sobriety and mental well-being.”

The Browns also released a statement from general manager John Dorsey, welcoming Gordon back.

Many have speculated about exactly why Gordon, who is reportedly dealing with a serious legal issue regarding child support, was not with the Browns this summer in camp, but to this point we still have on clear answer. That being said, Gordon has reportedly not failed any tests and appears to be a full go for the Browns now that he’s back, which is obviously a huge positive for the young man.

Since being selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2012 Supplemental Draft, Gordon has caught 179 passes for 3,089 yards and 15 touchdowns.
