Greek Freak shouts out LeBron James on social media

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James started the summer by being in the news for basketball-related reasons. The planet’s best player left his Cleveland Cavaliers for the bright lights of Hollywood, shocking many in the NBA world in the process.

In the grand scheme of things, that doesn’t even come close to comparing to what LeBron did in the Akron community recently. James’ new I Promise school opened up earlier in the week, providing top-level education and a whole lot more to the downtrodden within his former home community.

Since then, James has drawn praise from those within the basketball world and others far beyond the construct of the sport itself.

We can now add Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to that growing list. On Wednesday, the Greek Freak had nothing but kind words to lob in James’ direction on Twitter.

Not only is Giannis praising James here, he’s calling on other NBA players to follow suit.

As players continue to branch out and do work within their own communities, James will lead with the likes of Kevin Durant to make sure that service doesn’t take a back seat to on-court accolades.

As Giannis noted, James’ new school affords children with the ability for tuition-free college and whole lot of other perks.

At a time when the sports community seems to be divided along sociopolitical lines, it’s great to see some of the greatest athletes do so much work within the communities. LeBron is obviously the most notable and latest example of this.
