The hits keep coming for the Los Angeles Chargers. Fresh off starting tight end Hunter Henry and top corner Jason Verrett being lost for the season, Los Angeles will be without another key figure.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, veteran safety Jaylen Watkins suffered a torn ACL in this week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. If further tests prove this to be accurate, Watkins will miss the entire regular season.

As Rapoport noted, the former Florida star and Philadelphia Eagles fourth-round pick was having himself a solid camp as he transitioned from cornerback to safety.

It’s a further blow to the depth of one of the NFL’s best secondaries, especially given the injury to the above-mentioned Verrett.

Watkins, 26, appeared in 28 games for Philadelphia over the past two seasons, recording 47 tackles and three passes defended.
