The injury news isn’t getting any better for the Houston Astros. On Monday, manager A.J. Hinch noted that starter Lance McCullers is likely out until September.

McCullers, a postseason hero in 2017, has been good in 2018. Overall, he’s posted a 3.93 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 9.9 K/9 rate. McCullers has struggled recently, though. While his strikeout rate has remained solid (20 strikeouts over 17.2 innings), McCullers has posted a 7.13 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in his last four starts.
The injury bug is certainly hitting the Astros hard in the dog days. On Monday, Houston placed George Springer on the DL. Both Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa are also on the DL.
