The Chicago Cubs received some good news about the possible return of pitcher Yu Darvish. The right-hander threw 35 pitches in a recent bullpen session. When it was over, he reported no pain.

Certainly, more needs to happen before he can return to the mound. That said, this is a great step in the right direction.
Darvish’s agent recently defended him in regards to critical comments made by ESPN’s Alex Rodriguez (all of which can be seen here).
He’s missed much of the season, the first in a six-year, $126 million deal. Darvish had made only eight starts on the year. While he’s struck out an impressive 49 hitters in 50 innings, Darvish has struggled in those outings. He has a 4.95 ERA and 1.43 WHIP.
The good news is that if Darvish comes back healthy and strong, he can be a real boost to Chicago’s starting rotation for the remainder of the season and in the playoffs.
