Yet another Chargers starter, cornerback Trevor Williams, leaves practice due to leg injury

Chargers cornerback Trevor Williams

The Los Angeles Chargers continue to be the most snake-bitten NFL franchise in the game today. On Tuesday, starting cornerback Trevor Williams was helped off the field after being injured while defending receiver Mike Williams.

It’s unknown just how severe this injury is at this time. That being said, the Chargers were already in a dire situation at the cornerback position after losing starter Jason Verrett for the season with an Achilles tear.

Last season, Williams started 15 games for the Chargers. He registered two interceptions and 13 passes defended, and he was slotted to be the team’s starting right cornerback this year.

If his injury is significant enough that he misses much time, then the Chargers will have to really lean on second-year defensive back Desmond King, who did have a positive impact last season as a rookie.
