Sam Darnold reportedly set to sign contract, show up to camp Monday

The contract standoff between Sam Darnold and the New York Jets is reportedly coming to an end, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the No. 3 overall pick will sign his rookie deal and show up Monday.

This is the best possible news for all involved.

The Jets have made it clear the starting quarterback job is up for grabs, and there have been reports that it’s Darnold’s job to win.

Darnold needs to be in camp practicing with his teammates to have any shot of earning the job, however. So, it’s to his benefit to be under contract so he can pursue his goals.

It’s not all that surprising to hear that he was reportedly very upset about the contract impasse to begin with. Now that’s soon going to be behind him, and thankfully it’s time to get to work.
