Report: Heat gauging trade interest in Dion Waiters

As the Miami Heat look to retool their roster, they might now be looking to deal one of their key contributors from last season.

According to Amico Hoops, Miami has started to gauge interest in shooting guard Dion Waiters around the league. According to the report, Miami is seeking to shed salary for the coming season.

Waiters, who averaged 14.3 points and 3.8 assists per game last season, is entering the second year of a four-year, $52 million contract.

The 26-year-old is owed $11.5 million this season and will make $12 million in the following two seasons.

According to the report, teams around the league remain concerned about Waiters’ return from ankle surgery he had in January. For the time being, Miami may have to hold onto him until he proves he is healthy.
