Report: Carmelo Anthony has met with the Rockets and Heat, among others

Now that Carmelo Anthony’s one-year tenure in Oklahoma City is all but done, the Thunder are escalated matters on their end.

It was reported late last week that the Thunder and Anthony had mutually agreed to part ways — likely through a buyout. Since then, the 10-time All-Star has been primarily linked to the Houston Rockets.

Now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Oklahoma City has already granted Anthony permission to meet with other teams. Said meetings took place in Las Vegas over the past several days and included the likes of the Rockets and Miami Heat.

Both squads have been bandied about as potential landing spots for Anthony, who will likely hit free agency here soon.

Anthony, 34, averaged a career-low 16.2 points on just 40 percent shooting from the field last season. He’s currently slated to $27.93 million in 2018-19 — a number the future Hall of Famer will not come close to once he signs a free agent deal.
