Report: Brewers acquire All-Star Jonathan Schoop from the Orioles

Jonathan Schoop

After failing to land a better known Baltimore Orioles infielder earlier in the month, the Milwaukee Brewers have struck a deal for a massive upgrade with the very same Orioles.

According to multiple media reports, Milwaukee has acquired All-Star second baseman Jonathan Schoop from Baltimore.

Only one game out in the National League Central heading into deadline day, Milwaukee picks up a still-young infielder who is under team control through the 2020 season.

Schoop, 26, is hitting .244 with 17 homers and 44 RBI on the season. Last year saw him post a .293 average with 32 homers and 105 RBI.

Milwaukee’s starting second baseman Jonathan Villar is currently on the disabled list and doesn’t boast anywhere near the pop that Schoop does. In this, Tuesday’s trade is a major upgrade for the up-and-coming squad.
