Johnny Manziel has reportedly been traded

No, not to the NFL. That’s the opposite of how it works. Instead, former Heisman winner and Cleveland Browns first-round pick Johnny Manziel has been traded from the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats to the Montreal Alouettes.

According to David William Naylor of TSN, it’s a five-player deal that also sends two first-round picks back to Hamilton.

This comes after Manziel did not play a single regular season snap as a member of the Tiger-Cats. He also reunites with Alouettes head man Mike Sherman, who coached Manziel at Texas A&M.

What does this mean for Manziel’s long-term status? Montreal has thrown out three different starting quarterbacks this season and boasts the worst offense in the CFL.

Manziel might actually get some playing time as he attempts to make it back to the NFL. If he can’t beat out what Montreal currently has on its roster, that certainly won’t be a good sign for Johnny Football moving forward.
