Future Hall of Fame cornerback Darrelle Revis announced his retirement on Wednesday, ending what was a spectacular 11-year career for the seven-time Pro Bowl performer.
Following his retirement, acting New York Jets owner Christopher Johnson weighed in.

“Darrelle Revis is one of the greatest players to ever wear a Jets jersey and one of the most dominant defensive players in the history of professional football,” Johnson wrote, via the team’s official Twitter account. “Darrelle’s preparation, competitiveness, intelligence and attention to detail are a reflection of his dedication to the game and his teammates.”
Those are some pretty darn strong words right there. In a vacuum, Johnson is in no way wrong. During a four-year span at the turn of the decade, Revis showed himself to be among the most dominating figures in league history.
From 2008-2011, the former first-round pick recorded 15 combined interceptions and yielded a sub 60 passer rating when targeted.
Outside of his eight seasons with the Jets, Revis played a single season in New England, Tampa Bay and Kansas City. Once he’s enshrined in the Hall of Fame, there’s no reason to believe the now retired corner won’t be wearing Jets green.
