HOF won’t even mention Terrell Owens’ name during induction ceremony

Terrell Owens has made the decision to celebrate his Hall of Fame induction apart from rest of the 2018 class, and in response the ceremony in Canton won’t even include a mention of his name.

Pro Football Hall of Fame executive director Joe Horrigan made this clear in a recent interview with Talk of Fame Sports, saying “The focus is on the guys who are here.”

“And, so, Owens’ gold jacket — which, under normal circumstances, would be placed on his shoulders at Friday’s Gold Jacket dinner — will be mailed first thing Saturday morning. But his name that evening won’t be mentioned with the others, just at it won’t be recognized 24 hours later when individuals are introduced at Saturday nationally-televised induction.”

It seems pretty clear that there’s bitterness on both sides here.

For his part, Owens might be pleased as punch at this development. He’s made no bones about the fact that the Hall of Fame voting process is flawed from his perspective.

While his peers are getting inducted in the official ceremony in Canton, Owens will be at his old college, Tennessee Chattanooga, having a ceremony of his own. He’s always been one that has danced to the beat of his own drum, and that might never change.
