Earl Thomas requests trade if Seahawks don’t extend contract

Earl Thomas is one of the men who could become the 2017 NFL Comeback Player of the Year

While much of the NFL buzz has been about Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell this fine Monday, other disgruntled NFL players are making noise as well.

Seattle Seahawks All-Pro safety Earl Thomas posted this direct message to his Instagram account.

“Always been the underdog ain’t nothing new,” he wrote., “Extend…..if you don’t want me let’s make a trade happen I understand it’s a bizz.”

There is nothing cryptic here and no reading between the lines is necessary. The 29-year-old safety is not happy about his current contract that takes him through the 2018 season and will pay him $8.5 million.

Simply put, if the Seahawks do not extend him, Thomas would like a trade. There are other teams that would certainly be interested in his services. The Dallas Cowboys in particular, have been linked to Thomas trade rumors on more than one occasion.

Thomas, who has been selected for six Pro Bowls, has recorded 25 interceptions, two touchdowns, and 662 combined tackles.

He held out of his team’s OTAs and minicamp and could continue holding out on his team during training camp.
