With the No. 8 pick of the draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Collin Sexton. In his interview after being drafted, Sexton was asked to give his pitch to LeBron James.

It didn’t go terribly well.

Alrighty, then.

First of all, mentioning that Cleveland “needs a few extra pieces” might not be the best way to make friends with your teammates. LeBron may not come back to the Cavs. But however that turns out, most of the rest of the team will.

Additionally, “let’s do it” probably isn’t something that needs to be said multiple times.

We can cut Sexton some slack for being put on the spot. Trying to pitch the best player in the NBA only adds to the nerves. But even with those caveats, that just didn’t go well.
