Report: Marvin Bagley III ‘a near-lock’ for Kings at No. 2 overall

Duke Marvin Bagley

The top of the coming 2018 NFL Draft is sure to offer plenty of surprises, but the first two picks could very well be determined already.

Conventional wisdom has the Phoenix Suns taking Deandre Ayton with the No. 1 overall pick. And according to Eddie Sefko of Dallas Morning News Marvin Bagley III is “a near-lock” to be selected by the Sacramento Kings with the No. 2 overall pick.

Bagley is certainly a hot name right now. In addition to the fact that he signed one of the most lucrative rookie shoe deals in history, he is coming off a very solid season playing for the Duke Blue Devils.

The 6-foot-11 big man averaged 21.0 points and 11.1 rebounds while shooting 61.4 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three-point range, earning ACC Player of the Year honors, to boot.

The big thing this rumor signals is that the Kings really aren’t enamored with Luka Doncic, which could potentially lead to him slipping to a team that otherwise didn’t initially think it could land the talented Slovenian star.

We’ll find out soon enough where the talented next crop of NBA superstars will end up. Thursday night cannot come soon enough,.
