Report: ‘Five or fewer’ Eagles planned to visit White House

Eagles players celebrate a big win in NFL Week 12

The ongoing battle between Donald Trump and the NFL added another chapter when the President announced the Philadelphia Eagles’ trip to the White House had been cancelled. And it appears not many players would’ve showed up anyway.

According to ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr., the number of Eagles making the trip could’ve been counted on one hand.

Trump has added further comment on the situation, which stems from his public stance that kneeling during the national anthem is disrespectful.

Although a couple of Philadelphia players did use their right to protest in 2017, every member of the Eagles stood while the song was played all season.

As a result of the White House visit cancellation, the NFLPA announced several player-led community events in Washington D.C. will no longer take place.
