Kevin Durant confirms he’s re-signing with the Warriors

Those of you who are sick of the Golden State Warriors’ dominance might want to look away for a bit — maybe the next several seasons.

Fresh off an awe-inspiring performance in Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, reigning Finals MVP Kevin Durant has confirmed he’ll re-sign with the Warriors this summer.

“I just sat down with him (Durant) about a half an hour ago and he said he’s re-signing with Golden State,” ESPN’s Rachel Nichols reported.

It has long been expected that Durant would opt out of his contract and re-sign with the Warriors in free agency.

Now that he’s confirmed this with the Warriors one win away from back-to-back championships, we can put to rest the small possibility that Durant will leave Northern California.

It remains to be seen what type of deal Durant will get from the Warriors. He could go for another two-year deal with an opt out following the 2018-19 campaign. Durant could also follow teammate Stephen Curry’s lead from last summer in signing a long-term max deal.

Remember, Durant took less on his current deal so Golden State could keep its core together last summer. There’s no need for him to do that come July.
