Isaiah Thomas calls Michael Porter Jr. best player in the draft

With news that former Missouri top recruit Michael Porter Jr. recently suffered a hip injury, some think that the talented 6-foot-10 forward might drop big time come the 2018 NBA Draft next week.

Remember, Porter missed all but three games during his only season with the Tigers due to a back injury. There’s certainly some major injury concerns here.

Despite this, current Los Angeles Lakers guard and impending free agent Isaiah Thomas seems to think that Porter is the best player in what is a loaded 2018 draft class.

A projection like that is rather intriguing given that fellow top prospects Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley and Luka Doncic have much more tape available to NBA teams.

Though, it must be noted that an MRI on Porter’s injured hip came back negative. He’ll have another opportunity to workout in front of NBA teams before next week’s draft.

For his part, Thomas has every reason to be skeptical of the draft process. After all, he was the last pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
