Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry was supposed to have a breakout campaign in 2018, but instead he will watch the coming season from the sideline after a season-ending ACL tear during OTAs.

It was a brutal blow to the young man, who was expected to take over for Antonio Gates —Gates was not retained as Los Angeles looked ahead to the future — as the team’s primary tight end.

On Monday, Henry opened up about the injury with a heartfelt post on his Instagram account.

“I haven’t known what to say or what to think since the injury happened,” Henry wrote. “I’ve been full of emotions of all different kinds. It’s been hard to know that I can’t get out there with my guys. I know that God has a plan and He is almighty even in this chaos. It is hard to grip that when He does things like this, but I know He is in control. I’m trusting in Him and trusting the process. I will work harder than ever and attack every single day. I Will be Back! #comeback #boltup

Henry also made a short comment on Twitter, responding to the Chargers sharing his Instagram post.

It’s pretty impressive to see such a young man embracing the swirling emotions he’s been dealing with while maintaining a positive outlook toward the future.

We certainly wish Henry well as he recovers this season and look forward to a huge comeback story in 2019.
