Andrew Luck missed all of the 2017 NFL season due to a shoulder injury, and one of the biggest stories of the summer is if the Indianapolis Colts star will return this year. All-Pro teammate Adam Vinatieri sounds confident.
When asked on the Adam Schefter Podcast whether Luck would be available to begin the season, Vinatieri responded positively.
“We’ll see him. I’m not a doctor. I’m not privy to any inside information right. He’s a tough guy. He looks great. He’s got a great attitude. … I’ve got 100 percent confidence that he’s going to be back and ready to go.”
Although it’s fair to say Vinatieri — a wise veteran — wouldn’t say anything regrettable about Luck, the whole situation has been clouded with uncertainty.
Is Luck healthy and the Colts simply slow-playing his return? Has there been a setback? Is he throwing normal-sized footballs yet? How much does that matter?
Hopefully, Vinatieri’s confidence is not misplaced. The Colts struggled to 4-12 last year, missing the postseason for the third consecutive campaign. They’d reached the playoffs in each of Luck’s first three seasons.
