The famous island green 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass has claimed many a golfer’s ball off the tee, and Tiger Woods fell victim to it during his final round on Sunday.
Woods had been having a phenomenal round through 12 holes, going six-under par to that point. After his brilliant charge up the leaderboard on Saturday, fans everywhere were on the edge of their seats, as Woods had clawed his way from 11 back to just four shots behind the leader, Webb Simpson.
Then, Woods hit a speed bump on the 14th hole as he couldn’t take advantage of a monster drive and settled for bogey. Three holes later, the wheels fell off when he hit the ball into the drink on No. 17.

Woods ended up taking a double bogey on the hole, dropping from a tie for fourth place all the way into a tie for 10th place.
Still, after watching Woods come back from being so far away from contention on Friday, we cannot help but feel Tiger’s comeback is still very much on the upswing.
