The drawn-out drama surrounding Kawhi Leonard and his San Antonio Spurs could come to a head during the summer. We’ve all read the reports of a rift that grew between the two sides during a 2017-18 season that saw Leonard miss all but nine games to a quad injury.
Since this rift has been made public knowledge, other reports have surfaced that the Spurs might in fact look to trade the former MVP candidate. We now have concrete information on this from veteran NBA insider Peter Vecsey.

That’s pretty strong wording right there. The Spurs are reportedly “done” with Leonard and plan on trading him to an Eastern Conference team. The idea here would be for the Spurs to avoid playing Leonard’s new squad until the NBA Finals.
Among the teams back east that could make a play for Leonard, the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics have been closely linked to him.
Those interested in Leonard would have to take into account his freakish quad injury and the fact that the All-NBA performer can become a free agent following next season. Even then, a player of this ilk rarely hits the open market.
