Report: Girlfriend of Reuben Foster plans to testify at his hearing Thursday

Reuben Foster

The preliminary hearing that will likely determine whether the felony domestic violence case against Reuben Foster will continue to go forward is set for Thursday. This has been known, but what wasn’t known was whether Elissa Ennis, Foster’s girlfriend who initially accused him of assaulting her, would be testifying.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, Ennis will testify on Thursday that she lied to police about the assault charges.

Ennis recently changed her story in a huge way, alleging that the injuries that were documented in Foster’s case, including a swollen lip and ruptured eardrum, were caused by a fight she had with another woman, rather than during an altercation with Foster. Per her lawyer, Stephanie Rickard, Ennis provided a video tape of the fight she allegedly had with the other woman that could swing this case in a big way in favor of Foster.

The district attorney has known that Ennis might not cooperate for quite some time, however, and has staunchly declared that the case would continue to be pursued without her cooperation.

However, this testimony on Thursday, combined with the tape, could potentially lead the prosecution to drop the case against Foster.

The San Francisco 49ers have said that Foster will not be with the club going forward if he is found guilty of hitting Ennis. At this time, Foster is not participating with the team during offseason workouts while the legal process plays out.
