Report: MLB to announce Yankees vs. Red Sox London series in 2019

Aaron Judge's performance is one of the top takeaways from the 2017 MLB season thus far.

Baseball’s most heated rivalry will be heading overseas. Major League Baseball is set to make a big announcement in London on Tuesday. Joel Sherman of the New York Post noted that the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will play two regular season games in London at the end of June, 2019.

Whether these (or any) games should be played in London can be debated. But one thing is fairly sure. MLB is putting its best foot forward.

The NFL has been playing regular season games in London for years. Those games almost inevitably feature at least one of the NFL’s worst teams. Not only is the Yankees vs. Red Sox rivalry heated, but the two teams are usually among the best in the sport. The 2019 season doesn’t figure to be any different. Even if the teams are not as good as expected, London figures to be treated to the likes of Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Mookie Betts, and Chris Sale, among others.

These will be the first regular season games played in Europe in MLB history. MLB has previously played games in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, and Japan (which will also host games in 2019).
