Mark Richt, Miami agree to contract extension

March Richt was not happy with the Miami punter

Mark Richt led the Miami Hurricanes back to national relevance in 2017, and the head coach has been rewarded with a contract extension.

The school announced the news in a press release, and the extension is for two years. Richt’s deal now continues through 2023.

Last season, the ‘Canes reached the double-digit win mark and appeared in a major bowl game for the first time since 2003. They also made a long-awaited appearance in the ACC Championship Game.

Additionally, though Miami lost three straight to end the campaign, it peaked at No. 2 in the AP poll. The program hadn’t entered the top five in 12 years.

Richt, who played quarterback for the school from 1979 to 1982, oversaw a 9-4 campaign in 2016. Through two years with the Hurricanes, he’s posted a 19-7 record.
