Kevin Love officially in concussion protocol, not ruled out for Game 7

After taking a vicious blow to the head in a collision with Jayson Tatum in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love has been placed in the NBA concussion protocol.

Rachel Nichols of ESPN passed along the official word from the Cavaliers, who have not yet ruled Love out of Game 7.

This concussion marks the second in two months for Love, who was also knocked out of commission back in late March. It also represents his fourth career concussion, so the Cavaliers absolutely need to make sure he does not get rushed back to action.

It seems unlikely that Love would be able to clear all the tests in such a short time, as Nichols noted in her report. Likely, Cleveland will have to win Game 7 in Boston without its big man.

Not counting his brief appearance in Game 6, Love has averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers in this series against the Celtics.
