Jadeveon Clowney received second opinion, not participating in OTAs as he continues knee rehab

Houston Texans pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney is not participating in team OTAs at this time following a knee scope he had done after the season concluded.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, “Clowney has received a second medical opinion from Dr. James Andrews. His medical outlook is positive, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.”

Since being selected No. 1 overall by Houston in 2014, Clowney has dealt with numerous injuries, missing games in each of his first three seasons. Last year, however, he played in all 16 games during the regular season, finishing with 59 tackles, 9.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

The Texans and Clowney have reportedly been working on a massive extension that would keep him in Houston for the long term, though at this time no deal is imminent, per Wilson.

Clowney fully expects to be healthy for Week 1, and given his injury history taking it easy now is definitely the smart move.
