Eagles to reportedly accept invitation to visit the White House

There had been some question about whether the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles would visit President Donald Trump at the White House after earning their first ever title.

The Eagles themselves were invited by the White House earlier on Thursday. And now, it looks like the organization is about to accept said invitation.

This wouldn’t normally be news. It’s an annual tradition for championship teams around the sports world to visit the nation’s most famous house. Obviously, this has changed a bit in recent years with the the occupant of the White House finding himself at odds with the sports world. It was just last year that the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors decided against visiting Trump.

Some had concluded that the Eagles might follow suit. That doesn’t look like it’s going to be the case.

Though, we’re now going to start hearing from multiple members of the defending champs — some of whom have been outspoken against President Trump and his policies. That includes safety Malcolm Jenkins and defensive lineman Chris Long as well as former Eagles wide receiver Torrey Smith. All three previously said they would not attend if invited.
