Draymond Green and Rajon Rondo: The rivalry we didn’t know we needed

We didn’t pay much attention to Draymond Green and Rajon Rondo heading into the Golden State Warriors’ conference semifinal matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans.

All the talk surrounded the return of two-time MVP Stephen Curry for the defending champion Warriors and the presence of Anthony Davis in New Orleans.

Little did we know that Green and Rondo would give us the first real drama of a series that looks like it won’t go much more than four games.

During Golden State’s Game 2 win on Tuesday evening, the two hot heads got into it as the teams headed to the half with the Warriors up three.

It was next level great.

Then as the game drew on and became a physical force, there was no amount of petty left on the court.

Here, Rondo is walking back and forth between the lane attempting to somewhat throw off Green’s rhythm prior to a free-throw attempt.

Immediately after that, Rondo is seen wiping his sweat off the basketball prior to Green’s final attempt from the charity stripe.

It’s the rivalry we never realized we needed. Two of the biggest hot heads going at it with a spot in the Western Conference Finals on the line.

Heading to New Orleans for Game 3 Friday evening, we’re pretty darn sure said rivalry will be enhanced some more. Because, when you put Green and Rondo in the same series with a whole lot on the line, there’s really no telling what might happen.

Bourbon Street needs to prepare itself, stat.
