Report: Cowboys DT David Irving being investigated for assaulting girlfriend

Dallas Cowboys defensive end David Irving is facing a four-game ban.

Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle David Irving is reportedly being investigated by the Frisco Police Department for serious allegations, including assault.

Jobin Panicker of WFAA-ABC in Dallas reported Monday that the police department confirmed “it is investigating serious allegations against Cowboys player David Irving.” He noted that there have been no arrests made and that Irving is being investigated for “Assault-bodily injury. Unlawful restraint, and assault-impeding breath and circulation.”

Panicker further reports that the allegations made against Irvin were reported on April 22nd this year at two separate times by his girlfriend.

Irving has previously faced league discipline for PEDs, and regardless of what happens on the legal front the NFL is sure to investigate this incident on its own.

Originally an undrafted rookie out of Iowa State in 2015, Irving has appeared in 35 games, starting 10, for the Cowboys since then. The past two seasons, he’s tallied 11 sacks, seven of which occurred this past season.
